This is an alt. JD. We want to make sure you understand what you’re getting into - so we’ll tell you what we’re doing like we tell our friends about Taleemabad over a cup of chai.
If you’d rather skip to what the job is - go on down to the section titled ‘Why we’re talking to you’ - but at your own risk 🙂
If you’re reading this, there are chances you’re already aware of the problem. More than 24 million Pakistani children aren’t in school. Those that are in school barely learn anything. It’s as close to a demographic disaster as a country can get. And we’re determined to not only prevent it - but turn it the other way around - into a country renowned for its love of learning. Sounds 99% improbable? The 1% - that’s what Taleemabad is about.
In a nutshell, we make learning seamless and fun. Think of all the ways in which you wanted your learning experience to be better - and there are chances that Taleemabad works on it. Our dream is that a Pakistani kid from the slums/villages will develop the next vaccine, or land on Mars one day.
We do it by intensively using technology. Sometimes, we’re called the ‘Sesame Street’ of Pakistan. Seven years ago, we converted Pakistan’s curriculum into cartoons, and put it up on TV and Radio - on the same spots where you used to watch Ainak Wala Jinn when you were a kid. Watch our super-hit intro song (and tell us if it’s not a great anthem for learning)
Since then, we’ve silently become a household name in Pakistan. 8.5 million watch our TV programs every week. 1.5 million of them have downloaded and used our mobile app. Watch random children put up testimonials on YouTube here. You don’t put up testimonials if you don’t love something.
We’re now gearing up to do the impossible - change Pakistan’s educational trajectory for good, by creating the most affordable, high-quality, exciting chain of schools serving the aam aadmi in Pakistan. This is a school that:
It’s an Uber-esque model that pairs supply (entrepreneurs setting up mom-and-pop schools) with demand (parents itching for quality education), with a product that enables better outcomes for everyone. Read more about our approach here. We launched 140 of these schools - making us the fastest-growing school chain in Pakistan’s history. We’ll hit the 1000 schools milestone next year, doing in 2 years what others have done in 2-3 decades.
In ten years? We want to show the world that Pakistan doesn’t just export mangoes. It exports world-class education too. If this is something that excites you, read on further:
